Wow! Time is certainly flying by. Only a few more days before the winter break and they will be busy days.
Tomorrow we have GCVI coming to perform with their bands and choral groups. This is always a great assembly. December 12 is Pajama Day. December 17 is the Winter assembly and our class will be performing twice! Lots of practicing going on these days. There will be singing of holiday songs on December 19 in the gym. December 19 is also the last day of classes for the boys and girls.
Just to let you know what we have been up to lately:
Language:
We have been learning about characters that we are reading about in our fairy tales and how to describe them as well as the setting of stories. Some students are working on their vowel sounds in reading and others are working on fluency. Please continue to practice reading at home. Many students are writing their own version of the Three Little Pigs. We have been learning about different spelling strategies to help us during our writing.
Math:
We have been working on completing surveys and graphs. Students also are practicing how to read the information in a graph and what it means. We also continue to work on our number sense by counting, doing math operations and exploring number representation. This week we started "Minds-on-Math" groups. Students from Mrs. Kelterborn's, Mrs. Coniglio's and our class are being blended to work on specific strategies. We decided to try this idea after listening to Mrs. Kubota during the math night that School Council presented.

Social Studies:
We really enjoyed our trip to the museum in Fergus. Thanks so much to those parents who were able to join us. The children learned about Diwali, Hanukkah, St. Nicholas Day and Christmas in Spain. Right now we are creating a slide show about our favourite celebration using a computer program in the Library.

Art:
We have been learning about colour recently. The students have created art projects in the style of Piet Mondrian using primary colours as well as secondary colours. Our art really looks frameable!
That's all for now!
